Users flow along one-way single track dirt trails that connect to one another via two track dirt trails. Roads and footpaths ran among the estate’s nine buildings (no longer in existence), and many of the Shelden Trails now follow those same paths. 17 miles of trails wind their way through the hilly historic grounds of Shelden estate, gifted to Stony Creek Metropark by Elizabeth Shelden in 1981 for public recreation. Today they are best known for their premier mountain biking experience but are used year-round as hiking and skiing trails as well. The recently redeveloped Shelden Trails is a multi-use trail system. Our trails are regarded as some of the best in Southeast Michigan and features more than 14 miles of heavily wooded dirt single track and two track trails.
